Sub, Dub & Raw
An episode can come in several languages at once. They all live in the same server box, one row each, so switching is a single click and never a different page.
The short version
Want the dub? Click a server in the DUB row. Want Japanese audio with subtitles? Click one in the SUB row. There is no separate toggle; the row you pick from is the language you get.
If a row is missing, that version of the episode is not available yet.
What the rows mean
- SUB: original audio with subtitles you can switch on or off in the player.
- HSUB: original audio with subtitles burned into the picture. They cannot be turned off or restyled.
- RAW: original audio, no subtitles at all. Usually the first version to appear after broadcast.
- DUB: English audio.
- ADUB: a second dubbed version, when one is available.
- Rows with a captions icon carry the original voices; rows with a microphone icon carry a dub.
Making dub the default
Open your settings
AvatarProfilePreferences
Open the account menu from your avatar in the header and choose Profile, which opens your settings. The Preferences section holds everything about playback.
Turn on Prefer Dub
PreferencesPrefer Dub
With it on, the watch page opens on the dub row whenever the episode has one. Change it back any time.
Good to know
- Dubs usually arrive later than subs. The episode list filter Only Dub shows how far the dub has got.
- Subtitles on the SUB row too small or on the wrong track? The player's own settings menu (the gear) handles size and track choice.
- Only shows in your Watching folder send new-episode alerts. See the Notifications guide.
